"KEWN KREESTHA"
"Kewn Kreestha", (meaning the Quiet of Christ) is the Family Care Sisters Respite Facility at Croydon. It has offered rest and loving care to tired, stressed and convalescent mothers since 1940.
The Facility offers a safe and tranquil atmosphere for women. And,
the magnificent views of the Dandenongs are balm to the soul.
Acknowledging the significant role mothers have in creating a
positive environment within the home and nuturing respectful and
harmonious relationships within the family, the Sisters encourage
mothers to be aware of and attentive to their own needs, believing
that this will enhance their capacity to respond to the needs of
their families.Mindful of the varying pressures on women in today's every-changing society, the Sisters recognise the importance of wholistic care.
In 2005 the Sisters made the decision to open the facility to all women who needed 'time out', respite and/or nurturing.

A STAY AT CROYDON
"Kewn Kreestha" can accommodate 6 women each week. Admission is on Monday morning and discharge is usually on Friday at 1.30 pm. A daily program is provided which aims at giving the women skills for when they return home. THese include gentle exercises and relaxation,setting goals (short term and long term goals), looking at boundaries, self-awareness, etc. Staff are also available for one on one chats. Our volunteers also share their talents and time by doing craft with the women, offering massage or just sitting and chatting with them. "Kewn Kreestha" receives no funding (State, Federal or Commonwealth). We are dependent on donations to continue this work. So, each person coming to "Kewn Kreestha" is asked to make a contribution (eg. $25-$30 per day) - no person will be refused admission because they are unable to pay. However, we do have exclusion policies (which are not related to finance).
